Employers spend a lot of time and money on preparing and then subsequently marketing to candidates by posting on jobs boards and sharing on social networks. There is a large degree of guess work to this process, that is we post or share our positions and hope for a good response. Of course, on many occasions, response rate are lower than expected.
Fortunately, there are quite a few analysts out there who have studied job postings and their subsequent responses and worked out what the optimal recruiting posting/sharing times are to maximize response rates. And you can find these studies below.
Early in the week
Research from a global jobs distributor tells us that Wednesday is the day of the week when job hunters are at their most active and are most responsive to job advertisements and discussing your openings. Key findings of the survey were:
- 17.5% of candidate activity took place on Monday
- 17.8% on Tuesday
- 18.1% on Wednesday,
- 16.8% of candidate activity occurring on Thursday
- 12.3% of candidate activity occurring on Friday.
The peak job engagement time was between 11.00am to 1.00pm and between 4.00pm and 5.00pm, so the advice here is to reach out early in the week for maximum effect.
